this year i have spent over 6 months in either a hospital or rehab. i fell and broke my ankle. i was so worried about my cat. i had some one come in every day. i am now home and she is fine. cats don't like to leave their homes, they don't like change.

I would leave him at home. If you know of a responsible teenager, ask them to go over twice a day. Also ask that they play with kitty for at least 15 minutes each time they come, & clean the litterbox every evening. Pay the person maybe $5 a day, let them know that you will be back on the next day AFTER you actually get back so you can actually be home when they come over. That way, you will know for sure if they come over the day before you planned come back, instead of the morning of.
If you have someone come every other day, kitty might think he/she is abandoned again.

I think you should leave your cat at home he might feel sad moving him from his surroundings atleast if he gets food and water he should be ok just leave the tv on and that way it gives some kind of feeling of people talking for him to listen to im sure your cat will be fine :)

A lot depends on the cat's disposition. I have one cat who made a road trip with me when he was 10 months old. We traveled 3,000 miles in 2 weeks, stayed in five different homes, and he was seemed to enjoy it. I just set food and water up on one side of the floor in the back seat and the litter box on the other and strapped his carrier in the middle. When I stopped to use the facilities somewhere, I opened the cage and let him roam around the car. When I came back, he would "get in the box" on command. He seemed to enjoy exploring the new houses and getting to meet my friends.

When I went to visit my parents for the holidays, my other cat would go into hiding for most of our visit. Luckily, she wasn't around when we made the road trip.

I would leave him at your house. Cats do better at there own homes and they are very independent even when they are young so he will be fine while you are gone. Obviously you should have someone check on him every 2-3 days to give him fresh water and food and clean the litter box but other than that he will be just fine. Cats get very stressed when they are moved around. He will probably be terrified for those ten days if you took him somewhere else. I work at an animal clinic as a vet tech and when people bring there cats in to board they dont understand how miserable their cat is. At least in your house he will be comfortable and know his surrondings.

I think he would be happiest if you left him at home and asked someone to check on him. This way he won't have the stress of travel and staying someplace new.
